Cook II, Grand Aleutian Hotel - Military Veterans

UniSea, Inc. is seeking a friendly, organized and efficient Cook II in the Grand Aleutian Hotel in beautiful Dutch Harbor, Alaska situated in the stunning scenery of the Aleutian Islands.

UniSea has been in business for 50 years!  Our Dutch Harbor operations include one of the world’s most successful processing facilities for fresh Alaska seafood.  To support this fishing village, UniSea also operates two hotels and multiple food and beverage options for Dutch Harbor workers and visitors.  Our premiere hotel, The Grand Aleutian, is home base for visitors offering some of the most comfortable amenities, delectable food and amazing views.  The Cook II will assist with the planning and preparing of some of the best food on the island.  Basic Function:

Prepare menu items for customers in a timely fashion following the guidelines and menu specifications set by the Executive Chef.

 Essential Duties:

• Ensure consistent level of quality, portion and plate presentation is adhered to as specified by menu standards


• Rotate and organize all line items for menus


• Prep and stock line to ensure that an ample supply of products are on hand for menu preparation, and is sufficient to last through meal periods. Always keep backups on hand.


• Clean station between meal periods, rushes and right before completion of shift (i.e., equipment, refrigerators, counters) maintaining a clean work area


• Work with wait staff to ensure customer receives total satisfaction


• Help with the training of new hires so UniSea standards are adhered to and kept at a consistent level.


• Maintain a safe working environment in accordance with company policy by closely monitoring the safe use of equipment and work habits in and around the work area. Responsible for staying up to date with current company policies as they relate to safety.


• Develop, implement and maintain Everyday Focus activities to ensure continuous improvements and cost efficiencies in position and department


• Inform Executive Chef of any products running low or out of stock


• Report any problems to Executive Chef or Sous Chef (i.e., poor quality or product, problems with others staff members, equipment not working properly)


• Other duties as assigned

 Position Requirements:

•  High school diploma or equivalent and job related course preferred


• Minimum 1 – 3 years food service experience


• Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure


• Ability to adhere to directives and instructions from Supervisors and Managers


• Able to work well in a fast paced environment


• Must possess the ability to be flexible and work with little or no supervision


• Ability to interact in a positive manner with diverse cultures in a team environment


• Must possess good communication and organizational skills as well as excellent customer service skills

This is an hourly non-exempt position with a rate of $18.00 per hour.
