Correctional Administrative Services Manager - Military Veterans

This position is located at Piedmont Correctional Institution in Rowan County, NC. Piedmont Correctional Institution is a medium custody male facility.


The Administrative Officer III oversees the complete business function of the prison to include all fiscal and Human Resources operations.


This requires high level decision making based on knowledge of DAC and Prisons Policy as well as a through understanding of Prisons Operations.


This position serves on the management team and directly supervises subordinate staff responsible for the areas of budget, accounting, human resources, canteen, clothes house, maintenance, mailroom and trust fund.


Position is also responsible for gathering and analyzing data providing management level reports and information on a regular basis.


 Position will work closely with the Warden to manage the facility budget and make decision regarding expenditures.


Management Preferences: 


Experience working in North Carolina Department of Adult Correction or North Carolina Prisons.


Experience working with the Human Resources Integrated Payroll System (formerly BEACON).


Experience overseeing Business Operations or assisting a Management Level professional with oversight of a large or complex Business Operation.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC13.  State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position.  If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.  Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following: 


  State Government experience in Budgeting, Accounting, Purchasing, and Human Resources.

Bachelor s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in personnel, budgeting, research or administrative management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving the lives and property of its citizens through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws.   This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision.  Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.    


The Division of Institutions employs over 19,000 staff, operates 56 institutions and is responsible for the care and custody of approximately 30,000 incarcerated individuals across North Carolina. Our division categorizes the institutions into 3 custody levels, which include minimum, medium, and close.  The Division of Institutions has a duty to provide a secure and safe environment along with the proper care and supervision for every individual, in our custody.
