GGEAR Program Specialist - ( 2400011W ) The Geriatrics & Gerontology Education and Research (GGEAR) Program at University of Maryland, Baltimore has an exciting opportunity for a full-time, contractual Program Specialist. GGEAR is a program funded by the State of Maryland since 1987 for enhancing health profession training and research in the fields of geriatrics and gerontology. The GGEAR Program Specialist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of projects within the GGEAR program from conception to completion. The successful candidate will provide assistance in the management of the GGEAR program, manage resources effectively, and ensure that projects align with GGEAR's goals and objectives. The Program Specialist works closely with the GGEAR director, UMB campus affiliates, graduate research assistants, and external stakeholders with advanced knowledge of aging and older adulthood, improve health and social care practice, and enhance the well-being of older adults and their families. Primary Duties Project Planning and Management: Contribute to project plans and timelines in collaboration with the Maryland Area Health Education Centers. Coordinate project activities and resources to ensure timely completion of deliverables. Monitor project progress and address any issues or risks that may arise. Ensure adherence to project scope and objectives. Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including University System of Maryland health and social care faculty, community organizations, health and social care professionals, and government agencies. Solicit feedback and input from stakeholders to inform project planning and decision-making. Resource Management: Identify opportunities for funding and assist with grant writing and fundraising efforts. Optimize use of resources to maximize efficiency and impact. Research: Using state of the art technology, use sophisticated searching techniques to conduct in depth research of literature reviews, online searches, and other research tasks to address client/community's complex and unique information requests. Develop and maintain internet web site files and/or listings. Ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements. Knowledge Dissemination: Facilitate dissemination of research findings through publications, presentations, and conferences. Engage with the broader scientific community to share knowledge and foster collaboration. Translate research findings into actionable recommendations for policymakers, practitioners, and the public. Perform other administrative duties having a significant impact on the overall goals of program. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree. Degree in Gerontology or closely related field is preferred. Experience: Two (2) years of administrative or program coordination experience. Other: Related experience to program may be substituted for education. Ability to prepare financial statements and budgets. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of position requirements; of aging-related issues and trends; and familiarity with gerontological research methodologies and techniques. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
