Faculty Assistant I - Arts and Sciences, Chemistry | Washington University in St. Louis - Military Veterans

Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary The Faculty Assistant will supervise undergraduate students in General Chemistry or Organic Chemistry Laboratories, including grading, laboratory maintenance, development of experiments, and other administrative duties. The Faculty Assistant will assist the instructor of the course, in any manner requested, to facilitate the teaching and supervision of the undergraduate students enrolled in the course. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Assists in course instruction and/or laboratory subsections answering student questions, instructing in proper laboratory technique, eval. Assists in grading student laboratory reports, homework assignments, and exams evaluates student progress and performance, evaluates student written assignments and calculations, and evaluates student comprehension of chemical concepts based on lab work and lab reports. Assists in maintaining safe laboratory environments assists safe practices, presents pre-lab lectures and details of experiments to prepare students properly. Assists in lab and experiment preparation assists Senior Lab Prep Specialist to prepare equipment and chemicals for upcoming experiments, helps clean laboratory after classes/experiments, and maintains equipment and laboratory environment. Holds regular office hours to assist students. Performs other duties as assigned.
