This may include industry sponsored research, identifying and marketing of UCR intellectual property (IP) to prospective industry partners for licensing commercialization, philanthropy, and access to UCR core facilities, student engagement, and other university assets, as needed. Working within the Office of Technology Partnerships (OTP) team, the Senior Corporate Engagement Officer will assist in initiating, maintaining, and expanding partnerships by developing mutually beneficial strategic collaboration plans between industry partners and relevant stakeholders at UCR. The Senior Corporate Engagement Officer will play a key role of achieving the university's goal to foster new, significant, long-term partnerships with industry, including supporting the Southern California Opportunity to Advance Sustainability Innovation and Social Inclusion (SoCal OASIS) initiative to drive regional economic development through solutions-driven applied research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and workforce development around sustainability, clean technology, and social inclusion. The Senior Corporate Engagement Officer will work to support the OTP team in identify meaningful opportunities for corporate investment, support, and collaboration, while maintaining strong internal relationships with university faculty, staff, and administrators who carry out UCR's mission. The Senior Corporate Engagement Officer should be an experienced, customer-service oriented professional with the ability to communicate effectively and plan, organize, and prioritize assignments and work independently to complete assignments. This position will report to the Director of Technology Commercialization (TC) as part of OTP within Research and Economic Development (RED) at UCR. The full salary range for the Senior Corporate Engagement Officer is $81,500 - $150,100 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $110,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements. Requirements: Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required Degree in life sciences or agricultural sciences field. Preferred Master's degree in related field and/or MBA. Preferred Experience Requirements Minimum 5 years of related experience. Required 4 - 7 years of related experience. Required Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development and/or development of industry and academic partnerships as a relationship manager in related field. Required Minimum Requirements Strong communication skills; includes active listening and critical thinking. Highly developed political acumen skills and social perceptiveness. Skilled business development tactics to persuade and influence. Ability to work with a diverse group at all levels of the organization including faculty, staff, students and industry partners. Strong sense of ethical conduct that will inspire confidence and motivation. Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in the Microsoft Suite. Effectively uses Industry Alliance's application programs. Ability to break down complex concepts and communicate them in an understandable way. Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-service oriented individual who will be responsive to the needs of faculty, students, staff, entrepreneurs, and industry partners. Demonstrated energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to make and utilize new contacts. Precise attention to detail, well organized, follow-through to conclusion of actions, with ability to identify errors, offer resolution, and to meet strict deadlines. Self-starter with strong work ethic who can work well with others. Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize assignments and work independently to complete assignments, responding appropriately to competing requirements and changing priorities. Ability to perform market research and business analysis. Preferred Qualifications Broad knowledge about University and industry research pertaining to specific industry alliance program. Productive in work volume, speed, quality and consistency. Ability to see projects through to completion on deadline and satisfy industry partner and University goals.
