RESPONSIBILITIES
Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking an Engineer II with Heat Treat Experience at our City of Industry, CA location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provides engineering support and leads problem solving/troubleshooting events.
- Able to implements timely solutions to maintain the continuity of production flow.
- Designs manufacturing processes within schedule and budgetary parameters.
- Responsible for maintenance of material specifications, product drawings, routing sheets and manufacturing procedures.
- Perform daily GEMBA walks
- Design, review and problem solving through the shop floor interactions (GEMBA activity) to debug manufacturing processes and tooling (e.g. headers, rollers, etc.)
- Run reports as required regarding non conformance and variances; use reports to drive action
- Continuous improvement of tooling and methods for manufacturing processes
- Lead cost analysis and cost reduction
- Work hand-in-hand with production technicians to enhance manufacturing processes and troubleshoot issues.
- Provide technical guidance to manufacturing personnel.
- Determine root cause of persistent problems and lead implementation of fixes.
- Justification of new method and production equipment (able to propose and manage solutions through RFA and CAPEX projects)
- Create and drive project plans to completion, PCD (qualifications, new product development, new process development and sustaining project)
- Support Quality System Improvement.
- Interfaces with other departments to address and resolve engineering issues.
- Interfaces with vendors and outside sales personnel to evaluate, cost estimate, and select parts or equipment.
- Support product management in the event of product application problems in the customer structure. (able to provide new product estimate, product cost review, product feasibility, and technical support e.g. FAA, PMA)
- Disposition NCRs, perform deep dives as required (RCCA, and implement solutions to avoid reoccurrence)
- Create routing and work instructions including but not limited to: rework new product development, and sustaining
- Support employee training as required
- Own and/or support standard and product/process specifications (document control configuration management)
- Comply with all EHS rules and regulations and supervisory instructions.
- Other tasks as assigned

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 2 years' Engineering experience in manufacturing
- Prefer the Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering, from an accredited institution
- Experience with precision machined metal forming manufacturing
- Experience with product and process failure analysis
- Working knowledge of manufacturing techniques such as lean manufacturing, JIT, SPC, TQM, etc.
- Experience in the fastener manufacturing industry
- Experience with ERP systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, policies and procedure in English
- Ability to comprehend statistics geometrics and algebraic concepts through calculus
Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers and employees of the organization.
- Produce drawings and solid models including GD&T, produce reports, and address technical matters
- Mathematics: Probability statistics geometric and algebraic concepts through calculus)
- Knowledge of statics, strength of material and dynamics
- Knowledge of Selection and properties of materials
- Including Microsoft Office programs and Engineering CAD systems (e.g. Auto CAD, Solid Works)

Benefits/Salary:
The position includes competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision), excellent 401k matching program, paid holidays and vacation. The salary range for this position is $80k - $95k
QUALIFICATIONS
