Industrial Yard Supervisor - Military Veterans

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for on-time deliveries of all orders at the lowest cost and ensuring scope of customer expectations have been met.
  • Responsible to ensure Yard/Respooling Teams are maintaining assignments, appropriate information is being communicated to internal departments. The department is following appropriate company procedures and policies, ultimately ensuring goods are available for all production activities, shipments are on plan.
  • Ensure re-spool, loading/unloading of trucks/rail, changeouts of spools for the Fiberspar/Duraflex and jacketing lines, hydrotest and re-spool areas are uninterrupted
  • Ensure personnel are utilizing the appropriate tools for their assigned task and prepared for the next task
  • Maintain spreadsheet of inventory for finished spools and update after each shift.
  • Organization of empty spools
  • Coordinate the ordering of new shipping spools with Planning Supervisor
  • Operate all forklifts and support the yard team as needed
  • Maintain good housekeeping and organization around the yard
  • Assist with problems encountered as needed and interface with all levels of the company to ensure production objectives are met
  • Responsible to ensure a safe work environment for employees; work with the HSE Manager regarding complications and/or proposed improvements. Ensure any incidents are reported to HSE department immediately.
  • Participate with resource planning discussions to ensure production requirements are being met as efficiently and cost effective as possible.
  • Responsible to recruit, conduct evaluations/promotions, recognition, and disciplinary requirements of employees. Conduct training and coaching for employees in new work roles/tasks, safety procedures, and company policies.
  • Approve employee timecards through Kronos time keeping system, ensuring accuracy of activities. In addition, utilize the Kronos for employee attendance evaluation.
  • Nurture a culture that's team oriented, employees are valued, trust and accountable. Employees are working towards the same goal with focus on collective results.
  • Promotes effective communication with internal and external organizations and customers. Ensure business objectives are clearly communicated, understood, and administered by employees.
  • Evaluate systems and processes in place for optimization and efficiencies, implement improvements and changes as required or deemed necessary.
  • Responsible to follow all applicable company and corporate policies, guiding principles, procedures, and programs; including but not limited to the process map, support processes, health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Ensure area processes are compliant with the Quality Management System; work in accordance with QA team to improve processes throughout departments as required or viewed necessary. Ensure team is participating and submitting non-conformances to QA in a timely manner. Work towards continuous improvement.
  • Emergency Response: Activities related to responding to an emergency - examples include incident-command positions, organizing evacuations, aiding such as first aid, etc.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • Minimum 2 years managerial/leadership experience
    • Minimum 5 years Yard Operations experience
    • A firm understanding of both computer hardware and software (including MS Office Excel, Word, MS Project, and Adobe)
    • Understanding of ERP system operation and function
    • Excellent communication skills, including problem resolution and motivational skills
    • Certification of rigging, crane and forklift is an asset
    • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, physically demanding, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed
    • Ability to work with a diverse group of employees and departments
