Senior Mechanical Engineer - Military Veterans

Eaton’s IS VEH EMB  eMobility Electrification automotive division is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $80250.03 - $117700.04 a year.

What you’ll do:






Job Summary
The engineer in this position will be reporting to a Supervisor/ Manager. The engineer will be responsible for supporting EV / Hybrid auto (PDU, PDC (power disconnect) new product development and or sustaining engineering work on products manufactured at various global Eaton manufacturing plants. The product sustaining work includes cost-out as well as product design analysis & verification activities. This engineer will need to work cross-functionally with PD&P engineering internationally, perform challenging assignments with minimal guidance.    


 


* This Hybrid role must work on-site 3 days a week at our Tualatin OR location.  Relocation is not available. Candidate must currently reside within 50 miles of Tualatin. 

Job Responsibilities
• Support the design and the development (D&D) of the mechanical hardware/subassemblies for automotive Power Distribution and Protection (PD&P) products.
• Lead or support Product Sustaining work and cost-out activities.  This is includes change requests from within Eaton and from the OEM customer.
• Support typical design and development work: Requirement analysis, Design Architecture, Worst case calculations, DFMEAs, Design Review by Failure Mode, Design Review by Test Results, Drawings, Simulations, Bill of Materials, Engineering reports and similar
• Participate in project monitoring and control activities such as: Work planning, team meetings, open issues list & risk management.  
• Lead or participate in design reviews: System design, Boundary Diagrams, component selection, Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly.  
•Support creatation and execute design verification test plans
• Prepare the design documentation for release (drawings, models, tolerance stackups, engineering analysis). 
• Provide manufacturing Engineering with support during prototype product builds and new product launches. 
• Provide support to test engineers during the investigation of issues that may surface during design validation testing (DV/PV Testing). 
• Lead or support the investigation of product issues at the component, module and vehicle level. 
• Participate in components supplier and production lines audits, as needed. 
• Interface with customer and other internal groups such as Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Test / Validation Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering as needed
• Presentations, product requirements, design assumptions etc). Support vehicle builds, product launches, and production quality investigation as needed. 
• Follow Eaton’s Quality Management System (processes, standards, work instructions etc) in all product development work
• Release models, drawings and related product specifications using Eaton's PLM system Enovia






Qualifications:






Basic Qualifications (required): 
 


• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience of new product development in automotive, vehicle, or aerospace industries or minimum (2) years’ experience with new product development of electromechanical systems.
• Minimum Two (2) years of 3D CAD experience, including 2D drawing creation.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now and in the future.
• No relocation benefit is being offered for this role. All candidates considered must live within 50 miles of Tualatin, OR..  Active- Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.


 


Preferred Qualifications: 


• Experience with packaging electrical or electromechanical systems
• Experience with High Pressure diecasting, injection molded plastic, and  stamped component design.
• Tier 1 or 2 experience in automotive, commercial vehicle, or aerospace markets.
• Ability to design with and utilize 3D Mechanical CAD program (i.e.: SolidWorks, ProE/CREO, ANSYS, SolidWorks)  and PLM ( Enovia)
• Experience with computer aided modeling and simulation (FEA) techniques
• Ability to research and design within transportation industry standards (SAE, ISO, MIL, ISO 9001,TS16949 ) and best practices.
• Experienced with current GD&T practices.
• Proven ability to work with a team to complete projects on time and on budget.
• Ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing customer market environment
