Summary

This Marine Electrician will assist the Carrier Engineering Maintenance Assist Team (CEMAT) with troubleshooting and diagnosing systems and equipment onboard Navy vessels. This position is located in San Diego, CA.

What You Will Do

  • Work from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, work orders, and technical documents, including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports, and task or trip reports.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose systems and equipment to eliminate problems efficiently.
  • May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
  • Install, operate, maintain, and repair food service and laundry equipment on US Navy Aircraft Carriers.
  • Maintain effective supervisor and manager communications and relations.
  • Assist with the installation and removal of e lectrical cables, cableways, conductors, connectors, strain relief, fasteners, and equipment aboard naval vessels.
  • Complete electrical and data conductor disconnections and reconnections on existing and new equipment and existing equipment for a complete installation.
  • Complete Quality documents necessary for reporting and verification of the work performed.


What You Must Have

  • High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 4 years of related experience.
  • Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
  • Must have experience repairing and troubleshooting electrical systems and communication equipment on Navy Vessels.
  • Must have knowledge of technical requirements, the ability to identify complex problems, and solutions.
  • Must be able to read electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Must have the ability to perform service in accordance with applicable OEM tech manuals.
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a CAC badge.


Preferred: Bonus Points For

  • 5-10 years of general electrical experience onboard Navy Ships.
  • A current, valid DoD security clearance.


Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment and boxes. Each job will determine the exact weight requirements, but at least 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions, and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required, which may involve high heat, humidity, noise, and dirty conditions, working aloft over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. It may require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
