Position Title: Internship Coordinator, Music Business School/Division: Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences-Humanties Full Time/Part Time: Part-Time Description: Reporting to the Department Chair, the Internship Coordinator, Music Business is responsible for coordinating the internship program for music business and technology students, ensuring a valuable learning experience for interns. The successful candidate will have experience and relationships working in the music industry. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Recruits, coordinates, and manages the activities of interns, as well as liaises with the department to facilitate productive and educational placements. Meets with music business students (virtually or in person) to discuss student skills, interests, and internship opportunities. Coordinates with the Center for Career Design and Development to create student resumes. Conducts calls and meetings with various organizations in the music industry to raise awareness about Hofstra's Music Business Program and discuss potential opportunities for students. Maintains and builds HU MUSB internship database. Posts and circulates internship opportunities to students via Handshake, the Hofstra Music Business Facebook Group, and the Hofstra University MUSB email list. Meets with the student internship employer to establish internship guidelines (hours, pay vs. credit, etc.) and the student's job description, expectations, and outcomes. Facilitates internship agreement between employer and student. Moderates student internship activity via student internship journal submissions. Checks-in with student and employer during mid-point of internship. Conducts exit interviews with the internship supervisor and distributes/collects student evaluation forms. Conducts exit interviews with students and collects student self-evaluation forms. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. At least 3 years relevant experience working in various fields in the music industry. Database creation and management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Possess an enthusiastic and positive attitude. Ability to build strong relationships with interns, staff, and external partners. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment. Knowledge of labor laws and regulations related to internships. Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in an educational environment.
