Job Summary and Qualifications
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
· Maintaining a clean sanitary environment, minimizing an infection risk.
· Responsible for thoroughly cleaning all areas assigned to include patient rooms, exam rooms, offices, bathrooms, ancillary areas, public areas, and other areas that may be assigned.
· Promote and enhance the safety of patients, families, and staff.
· Ensures odor control; dusts furniture and other surfaces; cleans windows and window seals.
· Empty and wash trash, linen and bio waste receptacles; ensuring containers are cleaned and re-lined.
· Clean bathtubs, showers, sinks, toilets, mirrors, drinking fountains, and similar equipment.
· Replenish all soap, hand sanitizer, lotion, paper towel and toilet tissue dispensers in all areas as assigned as necessary.
· Polish metal/chrome; clean beds, including entire mattress (discharge cleaning).
· Inspect vents, horizontal and vertical surfaces as listed on work schedule such as: door handles, light switches, telephones, over bed tables, etc., sweeping and mopping floors.
· Keep equipment and supplies clean, organized and in good condition.
· Attend daily staff huddles.
· Utilize scripting to ensure consistent excellent customer service.
· Use tent cards and other best practices as directed by department leadership.
· Provide a timely response to the cleaning of all patient discharge rooms and STAT requests, ER exam room cleaning, OR/L&D/C-Section room cleaning, as well as all other requested cleaning needs.
· Comply with HIPAA guidelines, ensuring all patient and employee information is kept confidential at all times.
· Handle and package all waste, including pharmaceutical, hazardous, and regulated medical waste, in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
· Report any problems with equipment or supplies to immediate supervisor.
· Report all maintenance/repair needs to supervisor.
· Respond to all Meditech/Bed Management (BMAC) alerts and follow proper bed management system procedures for logging beds when completing discharges.
· Mandatory 100% compliance with hand washing expectations, training and education requirements. (including but not limited to Healthstream and Annual Competencies).
· Assist co-worker when the needs arises and you are available, creating a team environment.
· Attend all department meetings and other mandatory events.
· Adhere to all departmental and hospital policies.
· Report any staff and/or non-compliance issues to supervisor.
· Wear uniform properly (free of tears, wrinkles, etc.) Present a well-groomed appearance.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
What qualifications you will need:QUALIFICATIONS:
· Ability to communicate, comprehend, understand and write messages, and follow oral and written directions.
· Ability to work with a diverse population, and maintain an effective working relationship with others.
· Must be able to bend, push, pull, lift, reach, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
· Effectively communicate in the English language.
· Basic knowledge of chemicals, equipment, and cleaning procedures used in hospital housekeeping.
EDUCATION:
· High School Diploma or equivalent; will consider work experience in lieu of education.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION:
· DOT DEQ certification is required within 90 days of hire
· CPI certification is preferred
EXPERIENCE:
· Required to have 1-2 years previous environmental services, or healthcare housekeeping, or nursing home housekeeping experience with good communication skills.
