Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant Operator - Military Veterans

Amentum is seeking a Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant Operator to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Program in Andros Island, Bahamas. AUTEC's mission is to provide Naval Warfare Centers, the Fleet, and other customers with accurate undersea, surface, and in-air three-dimensional tracking data and other unique Atlantic test facilities. In support of Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), and Fleet readiness assessment and training. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the Lead RO Plant Operator having direct oversight of a reverse osmosis water plant system capable of producing 150K gallons per day; maintains, monitors systems and related equipment for proper operation.

  • Works with the Plumbing Shop to maintain ~10 kilometers of the water distribution system.

  • Operates and maintains the RO Plant in accordance with policies, procedures, regulations and standards of quality and safety.

  • Prepares and/or reviews daily operational control tests and daily logs.

  • Collects samples and performs routine water testing.

  • Calculates daily water usage; adjusts chemicals to maintain required levels.

  • Troubleshoots system and equipment problems; performs repairs, cleans and/or calibrates equipment as needed. Regulates and adjusts motors, pumps, blowers, valves and other equipment to meet operational standards.

  • Performs general building and grounds maintenance work as necessary in support of the water plant.

  • Responds to after-hours emergency calls and rotation shifts as needed.

  • Reviews or prepares daily logs, flow charts, production reports, meter readings, laboratory reports, monthly summary reports and other reports or logs as required.

  • Operates various tools including but not limited to analyzers, mechanic's tools, calculator, and hand and power tools.

  • Provides security escort for outside vendors as needed.

  • Will need to be flexible, open-minded, and imaginative in adapting to change.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Graduate (or equivalent).

  • Five (5) years' experience with municipal or military water management systems and a Class C Water Operator's license.

  • Must possess or obtain within twelve (12) months of employment - certification for the US Navy Overseas Drinking Water Systems Program: Level 1 Water Distribution Systems Operator and Level 2 Water Treatment Operator.

  • Must be designated by CNIC within twelve (12) months of employment as the Base's Water Distribution System Alternate Operator in Responsible Charge (AORC) and Water Treatment AORC.

  • Must be willing to handle hazardous materials including but not limited to compressed chlorine gas, anhydrous ammonia, concentrated sulfuric acid, soda ash, and sodium metabisulfite, while following all established worksite safety and environmental rules & guidelines.

  • Must obtain a Forklift Operator's license within six (6) months of hire.

  • Must be able to climb ladders, access utility trenches. May be required to work within confined spaces on occasion.

  • Regularly lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds.

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to interface with all levels of personnel within a multi-cultural, team-oriented environment.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs with emphasis on Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Works well under pressure of deadlines, capable of working with minimal supervision.


  • Must be able to reside in remote work location with limited medical facilities.


  • Valid passport and driver's license will be required.


  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
