ABOUT THE ROLE


As an integral member of the Materials Engineering team at Honeywell Aerospace, you will lead Aerospace level functional groups in electronics assemblies, sealants, coatings, adhesives, chemical processing/plating, and engineering substantiation/source approval. You will apply deep experience leading teams through complex non-metallic, metallic and electronics solutions in the creation of existing, new and innovative products. You will use refined project leadership skills to influence teams that solve various materials challenges.


This is an Aerospace Technologies Materials Engineering position located at the Honeywell Aerospace site in Minneapolis, Minnesota.


The salary range for this position is ($110,000 - $148,000). The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES




  • Demonstrate strong impactful leadership supporting the Aerospace Special Process team in Chemical Processing and Coatings


  • Materials Engineering support for Minneapolis, Redmond, and Clearwater Commercial PCNs/ECNs


  • Lead materials validation and laboratory testing for process application properties of raw materials and parts for Production and Receiving Inspection


  • Lead and direct failure analysis of adhesives, coatings, sealants, metals, electronics components, sensors and printed board assemblies


  • Maintain process/material specifications and inspection procedures


  • Lead and support process development, materials selection and characterization for New Product Development


  • Recognize processing history in various materials and explain meaning of the results to upper leadership, peers, and early career engineers


  • Use hands-on experience with various aerospace materials leading engineers and technicians to solve process challenges with strong team and project leadership skills


  • Lead supplier development and qualification of chemical processing, plating, paints, sealants/adhesives, conformal coating, and printed board assemblies.


  • Use practical experience with suppliers to readily understand their challenges, articulate robust guidance for solutions, and effectively relay supplier experience to the Honeywell designers for improved manufacturability


  • Develop strategic relationships with adjacent engineering and business organizations leading achievement of Honeywell objectives


U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS


Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

MUST HAVE




  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.


  • 10 years' experience demonstrating electronics processing expertise mixed with process development, problem resolution and design requirement definition


  • 5 years' experience with a large variety of engineering substantiation projects with demonstrated competency in training and coaching engineers in this subject


  • 5 years' experience leading project teams in developing materials solutions and/or problem-solving complex materials challenges

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering


  • Significant experience with adhesives, conformal coating, sealants, paints, metals, wires, chemical processing and printed board assemblies


  • Advanced knowledge of coatings and their process applications


  • Evidence of strong refined leadership and mentoring experience in technical materials project execution


  • Evidence of leading complex failure analyses


  • Ability to analyze and communicate complex results to key stakeholders to influence decision making


  • Excellent communication at all levels with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with a cross-functional, technical audience


  • Individuals who are self-motivated and consistently take the initiative to get things donewhile influencing others to achieve on-time commitments and on-plan execution


  • Ability to consistently make timely decisions in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness


  • Ability to cope with high demand environment where priorities change frequently, and multiple projects are being worked at the same time
