Responsibilities

About the role:

The AVP Global Software Solutions leads, manages, mentors, and builds an extremely talented software engineering team to deliver a game changing customer experience across all customer touch points. This leader must have the ability to attract and recruit the industry's best talent, and simultaneously have the technical chops to ensure that we build compelling, customer-oriented solutions in an iterative methodology. This role requires a background in software engineering, especially in skill areas such as .NET, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Salesforce, and Cloud Native development. Comfort level with specific languages is less relevant, but proficiency across the web stack is fundamental. Success in the requires experience delivering new consumer-facing software products, reasoning skills, strong interpersonal relationships, compassion and understanding for challenges, efficiency, and a passion for creating software for millions of customers. You're motivated by improving culture, earning trust, your team's growth, and have a track record of doing so in management positions.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the team to build the next generation of modern applications, platforms and services by providing technical expertise throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Partner with architects, product owners, and software engineers to drive the delivery
  • Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across our full stack, with a particular focus on front-end and middleware platforms and technologies
  • Manage third party staff augmentation firms, leveraging staff and contractors appropriately with regards to budget, timelines, and skillsets
  • Conduct design and code review to ensure compliance with standards
  • Foster and cultivate a culture of continuous delivery and improvement with an emphasis on full lifecycle ownership of the applications that your teams deliver
  • Delegate routine and standard tasks to appropriate team members and also serve as high level escalation contact
  • Resolves most conflicts between timeline, budget and scope independently but intuitively escalates complex or consequential issues to management
  • Define and evangelize enterprise policies, standards and position statements
  • Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
  • Grow subject matter experts to produce resilient, scalable software and secure data with highest quality
  • Work to modernize our existing tech stacks
  • Collaborate with internal teams to find areas of opportunities for automation
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Conform with all company policies and procedures

Qualifications

    • Pipeline Automation: Azure DevOps (YAML, ARM), Terraform, Jenkins, Chef, Octopus Deploy
    • CRM: Salesforce, APEX, Experience Cloud, Einstein, Omni-Channel
    • AI: GenAI, Machine Learning, Copilot
    • Code Scanning: SonarQube, Checkmarx
    • UI: Angular/Remix/Typescript, Javascript, CSS, Node.js, ASP.NET MVC
    • High level programming languages: Java, C# (.NET MVC and .NET Core), Go, Python
    • Scripting: Powershell, Bash
    • Database: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, NoSQL (e.g. CosmosDB)
    • Test Automation: Xamarin.UITest, Specflow, DevTest, Selenium, Test Data Manager, Postman, Maven, TestNG, Jmeter, Karate Labs
    • Operating systems: Windows, Linux
    • Cloud Services: Azures, AWS, or GCP

Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent work experience required
  • Greater than 10 years years in software development field required
  • 5-7 years leading projects or initiatives through influence required

GM Financial is the wholly owned captive finance subsidiary of General Motors and is headquartered in Fort Worth, U.S. We are a global provider of auto finance solutions, with operations in North America, South America and Asia. Through our long-standing relationships with auto dealers, we offer attractive retail financing and lease programs to meet the needs of each customer. We also offer commercial lending products to dealers to help them finance and grow their businesses.

 

OUR BUSINESS & OUR HISTORY

GM Financial was founded as AmeriCredit in September 1992 and opened its first branch office in Fort Worth, Texas. On October 1, 2010, AmeriCredit Corp. was acquired by General Motors Company and renamed General Motors Financial Company, Inc. (GM Financial). In 2011, GM Financial acquired FinanciaLinx to serve GM dealers and customers throughout Canada.  In November 2012, GM Financial announced the acquisition of Ally Financial Inc.’s international operations. The majority of those acquisitions were finalized in 2013, with the remaining market, a 35 percent equity interest in a joint venture in China, acquired in January 2015.  In October 2017, GM Financial completed the sale of its European financial subsidiaries and branches as part of General Motors’ sale of the Opel and Vauxhall businesses to Peugeot S.A.

 

GM Financial provides auto finance solutions to 14,000 dealers worldwide, with earning assets of $93 billion at September 30, 2018.
