Position Overview

This is an office based, sales support role within Tilcon NY Inc.’s Commercial Department. The role is tasked with supporting the growth and maintenance of Tilcon’s customer base by updating customer records, pricing, and various Tilcon systems.

 

The primary functions of this role are to support the sales process (quote – payment) by maintaining accurate pricing and sales order records for all company systems and making sure that all processes and procedures are followed. This role will work with both the internal and external sales teams and will at times help perform the functions of inside sales.

 

Key Responsibilities


  • Process customer requests received via email and telephone in a timely manner.

  • Enter and verify pricing and cartage rates on sales orders.

  • Maintain tax exempt certs and system status.

  • Run and Analyze reports to show pricing errors.

  • Maintain system efficiency.

  • Maintenance and general support sales systems and documentation.

  • Troubleshoot problems reported by users while analyzing data for pricing issues.

  • Work with insides sales and understand and perform the duties of inside sales at times.

  • Deal directly with customers and other sales team members on problems and solutions.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with both customers and other team members.

  • Regular and timely attendance is required.

  • Other duties will be assigned from time to time.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job a person must be able to handle and analyze large amounts of data and identify problems and work with the customer and sales team towards a solution.

 

Education/Experience


  • Minimum of two years of experience in a Sales/Marketing position or equivalent position with a customer service focus

  • Previous experience in construction material sales preferred

  • Preferred experience in Customer Relations Management, quote management system, MS Office Excel, company ERP software as required.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements


  • Ability to negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups.

  • Highly developed oral, verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work with management and peers.

  • Develop knowledge of the organization and its functions to understand the decision making process and its effects on efficiencies and cost control. The ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information, in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.

  • Demonstrate effective skills in dealing with employees at all levels.

  • Ability to be a self-starter and able to operate under general guidelines.

  • Ability to effectively work with customers, employees, and suppliers.

  • Ability to provide and understand detailed information regarding specifications of products.

  • Ability to perform under deadline pressure.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to work in an office setting to on a computer using fingers and hands to make key strokes.
