Assistant Professor (Immunology), Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences prepares undergraduate majors to become laboratory professionals, (including NYS licensed clinical laboratory technologists and biomedical research assistants) and to attend graduate (Masters/PhD) and professional schools (e.g., medical, dental). It also offers three graduate programs: a Master???s in Biomedical Laboratory Management, an Advanced Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology and an Advanced Certificate in Cytotechnology. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong teaching and research background in the biomedical sciences. A background in the clinical (diagnostic) laboratory is a plus. Responsibilities include teaching a one semester undergraduate course in Immunology (lecture and lab) and at least one other undergraduate course (lab or lecture) in subjects, such as Immunohematology, Physiology, Clinical Biochemistry, Hematology or Cell and Tissue Culture, or a course in one of our graduate programs, such as Concepts of Disease: Diagnostic Strategies or Emerging Lab Technology. Other responsibilities include establishing an active and well-funded research program, mentoring research students, advising students, participating on committees and performing administrative or supervisory functions. Opportunities are available for research collaboration within the department and in the nearby biomedical community. QUALIFICATIONS Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Preferred qualifications: ??? Ph.D. degree in immunology or a related area of biomedical science ??? A strong publication record in the recent peer reviewed literature ??? Experience teaching immunology at the undergraduate or graduate level ??? An established ongoing research program with funding potential Other qualifications (desired but not required): ??? Background in the clinical (diagnostic) laboratory at any level ??? Background or experience in immunohematology ??? Experience in educational or laboratory administration COMPENSATION Salary range for Assistant Professor: $70,238 - $99,532.
