Additional Information About the Role

BJC HealthCare is seeking a Full-Time Patient Service Rep (PSR) at our Outpatient Internal Medicine Specialists (3009 N Ballas Rd, Suite 390C, St. Louis, MO 63131)

 

Position Details:

  • Shift Day Hours: Monday - Friday (7:00am-3:30pm or 8:30am-5:00pm)
  • Able to attend once a month staff meetings until 5:30pm

    • Prepare for patient arrival by pre-registering and verifying insurances

    • Welcome patients

    • Register patients upon arrival, which includes verifying health insurance payment information, collecting payments, and updating patient demographics

    • Previous PSR and/or healthcare experience (preferred)

    • customer service experience

Internal Medicine Specialists is located in Town & Country, MO on the campus of Missouri Baptist Medical Center and focuses on Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.


Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

The Patient Services Representative acts as the initial point of contact for front office activity and helps directs the patient flow process at the physician office. This position performs patient check-ins and appointment scheduling. This position also maintains patient financial records and may serve as a switchboard operator as needed.

 

Responsibilities

  • Handles telephone calls from patients and staff; forwards calls requiring triage.
  • Performs receptionist duties with close attention to detail and professionalism.
  • Verifies health insurance payment information and educates patients on the applicable regulations; collects payments and records data.
  • Performs data entry of service charges, to include the assignment of diagnostic codes and the entering of all physician and clinic related charges.
  • Coordinates information with Central Billing Office to ensure all charges are captured and properly collected.
  • Minimum Requirements

    Education

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience

  • 2-5 years
