Description: This position implements the research priorities in the School of Public Health in alignment with the College's research strategic plan. The Grants and Contract Associate - Pre-award provides expert guidance to SPH faculty, staff, and students in maximizing the competitiveness of collaborative and complex public health research proposals and other sponsored projects. The Grants and Contract Associate customizes support for investigators, which includes coordinating all aspects of the proposal submission process, developing project-specific grant submission timelines, creating and maintaining college-wide proposal development resources for use by faculty and staff, and serving as a resource for investigators on grantsmanship and compliance with university and sponsor policies. Duties & Responsibilities: Collaborate and work with the Principal Investigator, research team, and external partners in building and submitting a comprehensive research proposal for funding, including managing the submission timeline and task list. Read and interpret funding opportunities, sponsor guidelines, and policies. Communicate sponsor requirements to the research team. Organize and prepare pre-award proposal documentation, including budget justification, supporting materials, and sponsor forms. Develop a project budget in Excel that supports the overall aims, timeline, and feasibility. Help investigators navigate compliance regulations. Communicate with subrecipients to request and review pre-award documents. Support collaboration with community partners during proposal development. Collect and route documentation for Just-In-Time requests. Review grant proposal content for accuracy and compliance. Provide educational resources and timely information to investigators to ensure proposals are compliant with protection of human research subjects requirements. Maintain templates for non-technical grant documents. Use productivity tools such as cloud-based file sharing platforms, virtual meeting software, and website editing tools to disseminate grant resources for college faculty and staff. Contribute content to internal and external research communications, including the college website, listserv, and printed materials. Coordinate and support college-wide research initiatives and events to promote research development, collaboration, and visibility. Assist with the collection of data on research office metrics. Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics or a field related to the position Preferred Qualifications: Education and experience in public health, health sciences, public administration and policy, or non- profit management. Knowledge of principles and processes involved in contractual and grant monitoring procedures. Knowledge of computers; word processing, spreadsheets, and database management. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to negotiate and persuade; reconcile differences; persuade others to change their minds or behavior. Ability to provide technical advice and information to faculty and staff in area of expertise. Ability to perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects. Ability to motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job. Ability to analyze data and formulate conclusions. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to take initiative; willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges; exercise independent judgment and discretion.
