Adjunct Health Instructor-Part-Time | Iowa Western - Military Veterans

The Adjunct Health Instructor will teach Nurse Aide classes in Council Bluffs and other Iowa Western Centers as needed as well as teach Medication Aide, Medication Manager, Supervising in Health Care, Phlebotomy, Rehab/Restorative Aide, Activity Coordinator. They will assist in creating new and needed curriculum for our area health partners. Prepare supplies needed at the Centers for Nurse Aide classes when offered Provide Nurse Aide testing as scheduled Work cooperatively with the Program Coordinate to schedule continuing health education classes to meet the need of long-term care facilities. Maintain the nurse aide records to comply with state and federal regulations. Maintain student relationships by providing quality customer service. Work with the Program Coordinator to identify and develop short term career training programs. Coach students during record check evaluations with the Department of Human Services Implement the delivery of Continuing Education online courses. Implement successful promotion and evaluation of all courses. Maintain all Nurse Aide records required by the college, the Department of Education and the Department of Inspections and Appeals. Assist with mentoring of new instructors. Other duties as assigned. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred with a minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse and one year of full-time employment in a nursing home as a Registered Nurse. Experience teaching is preferred, and candidate must complete the mandatory Nurse Aide Teacher Trainer offered at Iowa Western. Must have extensive experience utilizing microcomputer applications and multimedia technology. Candidate must have excellent nursing skills and be flexible and willing to learn and keep current with new technology and learning strategies. Must have excellent customer service, communication and promotional skills. Must be able to work independently, accept responsibility with limited supervision, manage multiple tasks to completion, and work with frequent interruptions. Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends to facilitate scheduled programs. Must have strong organization skills and attention to detail. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must possess excellent human relations skills. Be able to establish relationships within the College and the community that will further promote future opportunities for Continuing Education programs. Ability to pass a background check.
