Underwriting Service Associate - Military Veterans

The Underwriting Services Associate is responsible for providing day-to-day underwriting support to the Global Services Branch to meet department, branch, and corporate goals relating to underwriting profit, renewal retention, rate, customer service and producer/client relations. This position is part of Global Services accountable for entering New Line Submissions & Renewals, the Triage of Endorsements, and miscellaneous underwriting report ordering in support of US underlyers.

The ideal candidate must have exceptional customer service, communication, multi-tasking, teamwork, and organizational skills. In addition the individual must demonstrate the following competencies and behaviors:

  • Familiar with basic workflows and procedures. Understands customer service targets. Knowledge of underwriting principles, underwriting information, policy coverages and key endorsements. Basic understanding of financial concepts and terminology.
  • Technical - Developing proficiency in applicable technology and processing tools. Proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Teamwork - Displays a willingness to help and learn from other team members. Actively seeks ways to assist team members and positively accepts additional responsibilities whenever possible.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in responding to rapidly changing requests and a "can do" approach to new ideas.
  • Effectively work with supervisor to communicate status of work, issues and concerns in a timely manner, along with identifying training needs and appropriate training solutions.
Major responsibilities:

The successful person in this role will be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment. Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

CCI New Line & Renewal Submission Entry & Processing including
  • Reviews incoming submissions to determine correct service branch and coding
  • Performs OFAC Clearance
  • Indexes all supporting documentation in the underwriting file
  • Completes entry with the appropriate name clearance system and indexes all supporting documentation in the underwriting file
  • Completes MAX entries & task assignments & follows up on missing information according to business rules
  • Generates correspondence associated with new line submissions & renewals per Corporate Rules
Branch Service Requests which includes
  • BORs, Loss Runs, OFAC Research, MAX status management,
  • Prospect Entry/Close Outs, CUW Customer File maintenance, Mail, Supplies

UA / UW Support
  • Generate monthly non-renewal notices for entire GAB book
  • Assist with New / Renewal policy prep
  • Additional projects as they come up


Education & Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred
