Job Summary and Qualifications

**Program runs from August 25, 2024 to April 5, 2025**

Our Float Pool Registered Nurses raise the bar by providing clinical expertise and the highest quality care, in the most compassionate way. Our RN Float Pool Team provides care to a variety of patients throughout our Hospital. Our Pool RN’s float to our Critical Care, Emergency Room, Step Down and Medical floors. We are looking for a Registered Nurse that is interested in working with a diverse group of patients in a role that allows for developing additional Nursing skills. We are an amazing team, that works hard to support each other and are seeking a phenomenal addition, like you, who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do.

What You Will Do In This Role:

  • You will perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient, following standards of care and disease specific protocols
  • You will plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources
  • You will provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed nursing staff within the RN’s scope of practice and in accordance with established policies
  • You will provide education and emotional support appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstance and incorporate patient / family teaching into all aspects of nursing practice

What qualifications you will need:
  • At least 2 years of experience in an acute care hospital within Med Surg/Tele or PCU or ICU 
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Registered Nurse
  • Associate Degree
  • Bachelors Degree must be obtained within 2 years of employment start date

Program Requirements:

  • All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.
  • Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need.
  • Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period.
  • During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee).
  • Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital.
  • Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy.
  • Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND, D2/ECD, and D3/EVD)
  • Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation.
  • Current FT/PT & PRN Level 3 employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program for 2024-2025 with the exception of RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year.
  • Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program.
  • Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department.

We offer general surgery, orthopedics and women's services. Additionally, a Level II neonatal intensive care unit and behavioral health services. Medical City McKinney is a Primary Stroke Center.
