Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary

Under direct supervision, performs daily cleaning tasks for patient rooms, nursing stations, lounges, offices, clinic areas and any other areas assigned in accordance with standard procedures of the Housekeeping Department and in accordance with facility standards and objectives

Job Duties

  1. Perform all Housekeeping related tasks demonstrating service orientation to patients, visitors, fellow employees, doctors , nurses and other hospital staff.
  2. Perform basic cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods.
  3. Dusts horizontal surfaces
  4. Empties, wipes and relines wastebaskets
  5. Damp wipe disinfects all furniture
  6. Cleans and polishes metal and porcelain fixtures in bathrooms
  7. Dust mops and damp mops floors
  8. Spot clean walls and windows
  9. Polishes metal surfaces
  10. Replenishes paper and soap supplies
  11. Strips bed linens to perform discharge cleaning
  12. Performs discharge cleaning as needed
  13. Uses a safety ladder to remove and replace cubicle curtains
  14. Performs precaution room cleaning as needed
  15. Vacuums carpets, spot cleans as needed
  16. Transports soiled linen to collection point
  17. Measure and mix bleach and other cleaning solutions
  18. Assist in cleaning up of spills as needed
  19. Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and recommend repairs as needed
  20. Observe and report the need for repairs to furniture, building and fixtures
  21. In case of fire or other internal disaster, assists in evacuating patients
  22. In case of a community disaster, assists nursing as needed
  23. Perform all other tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED

1-3 Years Experience
