Epidemiologist III - Military Veterans

The Alakaina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for an Epidemiologist I  to support our government customer located in San Juan, Puerto Rico . Provide services to implement a comprehensive dengue prevention and control program in Puerto Rico (PR). DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific tasks include: Support implementation of dengue surveillance program in PR. Coordinate public health programs, including statistical analysis, health care planning, surveillance systems, and public health improvement. Investigate Dengue cases, to determine cause and risk factors, progress, or mode of transmission. Assist PRDH and the Dengue Branch to plan and implement projects to investigate Dengue cases, preventive methods, and evaluate effectiveness of the public health interventions. Provides technical assistance to other professionals on the use of complex statistical and epidemiologic techniques. Serves as technical resource with respect to all phases of statistical interpretation relating to epidemiologic topics under consideration. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Master's Degree in Epidemiology REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Must have strong skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Minimum of eight to ten (8-10) years’ experience with complex statistical and epidemiologic techniques. Must have technological understanding of all phases of statistical interpretation relating to epidemiologic topics under consideration. Must have experience in developing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have strong writing skills and demonstrated experience in content development are essential. Must be able to write content in plain language. Must have strong problem-solving skills along with outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail. Must have an energetic team presence with an eagerness to learn and collaborate with other members of the communications team. Must be able to multi-task and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment. Must have interest in learning complex public health issues. DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Prior CDC, public health, or healthcare experience. Knowledge and experience in communicating about vector-borne disease. Experience planning, implementing, or analyzing results from formative research to inform communications efforts. REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must be able to pass a National Agency Background Investigation (NACI). Must be able to obtain a common access card (CAC).
