PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Analyst Tax will be a key contributor to the CPKC income tax team and will assist with various aspects of the tax function, including income tax accounting and reporting, income tax compliance, and audits. The successful candidate will show a demonstrated passion for excellence and thrive on challenges, while working closely with the tax team and other members of CPKC's finance team to support business needs.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual US tax provision calculations
- Assist with the preparation of return to provision calculations and ensure provisions are timely and accurately booked
- Assist with analyzing tax information and preparing internal management reporting
- Assist with the preparation of domestic compliance filings, including federal and state corporate income tax returns, tax information returns, gathering data and preparing documentation for the files
- Assist with gathering supporting documentation for, and preparing responses to, government audit queries
- Establish and maintain well-documented files to support tax provision, tax reporting and compliance
- Prepare account reconciliations for income taxes and selected entities
- Ensure accounting and reporting process complies with applicable internal control (SOX) requirements
- Address and respond to queries from auditors and internal reviewers
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Undergraduate degree in accounting or other relevant fields
- Interest in pursuing accounting designation (CPA)
- Experience with the following considered an asset
- Tax Prep software
- SAP
- Knowledge of US GAAP Accounting

RELOCATION MAY BE REQUIRED for final placement in a sales or marketing position once the training program is successfully completed. The candidate can be relocated to any location across the CPKC system.
