Job Duties: The Department of Pediatrics at the Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University, is seeking a full-time, board eligible/board certified pediatric intensivist to join eight pediatric intensivists in staffing a 12-bed multidisciplinary Pediatric Intensive Care Unit ( PICU ) and help augment a rapidly expanding pediatric sedation service. In addition to providing pediatric critical medical care, this position is heavily involved in teaching. Residents from various departments and medical students participate in learning and inpatient care in the PICU . Full-time 24/7 pediatric nurse practitioner coverage also help staff the PICU where annual PICU admissions are 700 800. The PICU is an integral part of a rapidly growing Children's Hospital, which is part of a Level 1 Trauma Center with a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department. The Maynard Children's Hospital includes a day medical and sedation center as well as a pediatric hematology/oncology unit and a 21-bed special care nursery. The PICU both supports and is supported by a broad range of sub-specialty medical and surgical services, including but not limited to pediatric surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, pediatric neurosurgery, and pediatric anesthesia. Opportunity is available for either clinical track or tenure track at the title/rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Associate Professor, Clinical Professor or Professor. Number of years practicing and accomplishments varies for clinical track/tenure track at each title/rank.
