The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $76,186 - $95,233

Job Summary

Provide communications expertise to segments of the business as assigned. Write deliverables for both internal and external communications based on knowledge gained from learning about the business.

Key Responsibilities


  • Provides support to AGR departmental areas and services as their direct communications expert charged with improving the positive impact of communications on their specific processes.

  • Works on an ongoing basis to fully integrate communications into all aspects of AGR activities and provides direct support to several levels of management in the development and implementation of strategic and tactical communications concerns and projects.

  • Assist in writing, managing and coordinating news media activities, news contacts, inquiries, news conferences and news releases.

  • Guards and promotes the brand of AGR and its affiliates.

  • Provide writing and editorial assistance in developing corporate communications materials, strategies, and media marketing plans.

  • Develops and maintains strong working relationships with multiple business units and serves as their communications expert in the development of targeted operational, employee and other communications materials.

  • Develops story ideas and works to actively place articles about the Company with local, state, regional, and national media outlets and assists with the writing, design and coordination of AGR web sites as requested.

  • Participates in the development and implementation of various crisis and emergency response activities to include rotating responsibility for after-hour media inquiries.

  • Assists in the development of strategic communications plans and projects and executes the appropriate tactics to promote AGR core objectives in both a comprehensive and cost-effective manner.

  • Researches, writes, designs, and produces specific AGR internal and external communications efforts including social media.

  • May serve as a AGR media spokesperson when necessary and is responsible for the timely and accurate communication of complex business issues to allay audiences.

  • Some travel required.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Public Relations, Marketing or related field.

  • 1 to 3 years' experience in a corporate communications role.

  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects at a variety of stages.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required.

  • Ability to present complex and sensitive issues in a clear, easily understood manner.

  • Strategic thinker and problem solver with the ability to interact with, including internally and externally, a broad cross-section of senior management, professional and bargaining unit employees using tact and sound judgment.

  • Must be able to work independently and also within a team in a fast-paced environment.
