Job Summary and Qualifications


Our PACU Registered Nurses raise the bar by providing clinical expertise and the highest quality care in the most compassionate way. Our team helps to recover a wide variety of patients in our busy, fast paced unit. As a Post Anesthesia Care Unit recovery RN you will assist with high acuity patients and enjoy the support of a great team!   PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

· All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period.

· Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need.

· Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period.

· During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee).

· Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital.

· Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy.

· Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for extra shift bonuses (D1/CND, D2/ECD, and D3/EVD)

· Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation.

· Current FT/PT & PRN Level 3 employees are not eligible to join the Seasonal program for 2023-2024 with the exception of RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year.

· Current employees of HWS are not eligible for the seasonal program.

· Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department.


    What You Will Do In This Role: 


    • You will perform comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient, following standards of care and disease specific protocols. 


    • You will plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.  


    • You will provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed nursing staff within the RN’s scope of practice and in accordance with established policies. 


    • You will provide education and emotional support appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstance and incorporate patient / family teaching into all aspects of nursing practice. 


      


    What Qualifications You Will Need: 

    • Texas State RN license or compact license required. 
    • BLS and ACLS required by AHA or ARC. PALS required by AHA or ARC within 6 months from hire or transfer date
    • Specialty Certification encouraged. 
    • Dip/ADN required; BSN preferred
    • One year of PACU experience required
    • Professional Nursing Organization membership encouraged
