The Cyster lab has an exciting opportunity for an SRA 2 or 3 to join the research team. The lab wants to understand how cell migration during immune responses is guided and controlled to support antigen encounter and cell-cell interaction events needed for immunity to pathogens and tumors. This knowledge can help improve human health through providing insights for making improved vaccines, anti-tumor therapies and mechanisms to block autoimmunity. For more information about the Cyster lab, please visit http://cysterlab.ucsf.edu/ The overall purpose of this position is to be an integral part of the Cyster lab research team working with other lab members on a range of immunobiology studies as the 'point person' for mouse breeding and genotyping. Additionally, there are opportuinities to help the principal investigator with lab management tasks. Position will require a degree of independence and will be under general supervision. The individual will be a valued member of the lab and actively participate in group meetings and immunology program activities, and contribute to publications. Major roles: Helping with maintaining a large mouse colony through breeding and genotyping work. Collaborate other lab members on research projects that focus on mouse breeding, genotyping and immunizing, cell transfers, tumor implanting, tissue collection, and flow cytometry. Helping with core lab management tasks including regulatory compliance and training of junior lab members in mouse-related tasks. This job is a balancing act and requires an organized person with talent for multi-tasking. Effective communication skills are necessary to ensure efficient communication with multiple lab members from different backgrounds. Focus and attention to detail is important for performing accurate and efficient weaning and genotyping. The job is performed under general direction where goals and objectives are broadly outlined. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $30.89 - $49.68 (Hourly Rate).
