School: Faculty of Arts and Sciences Department/Area: East Asian Languages and Civilizations Position Description: The Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations seeks to appoint a tenure-track professor in Pre-1600 Japanese Literature and Culture. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2025. The tenure-track professor will be responsible for teaching and advising at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The ability to teach classical Japanese ( bungo ) is expected, and proficiency in teaching Japanese literary Sinitic ( kanbun ) is also welcome. Basic Qualifications: Doctorate or terminal degree in Literature or related discipline required by the time the appointment begins. Additional Qualifications: Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching and advising is desired.
