Coordinator New Student Transitions Job Type: Administrative Staff Job Number: 00335 Location: Westerville, OH Division: Academic Affairs DESCRIPTION Otterbein University is seeking a Coordinator of New Student Transitions who will be responsible for the planning, organization and execution of programs to transition new student populations to the Otterbein community. This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Executive Director/Assistant Provost of Student Success and Career Development. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Orientation and First Year Experience Coordinate all of the new student orientation programs for first-year students, parents, transfer students, Otterbein Collegiate Institute students, and international students; Work in collaboration with the Student Affairs division involvement team to plan and execute the First Flight program; Develop Orientation publications and maintain Website information; Recruit, hire, train and supervise the Student Orientation Coordinators; Work closely with the Executive Director/Assistant Provost to support the FYE program. Responsible for the development, coordination and tracking of FYE co-curricular programming for Fall and Spring Semesters; Recruit, hire, train and supervise the Peer Mentors connected to the FYE program; Responsible for the development and maintenance of a standardized curriculum for use by the FYS Peer Mentors; Serve as a staff mentor for 1-2 sections of FYS each fall semester; Maintain a high level of communication with the faculty, staff, and other administrators across the university to ensure a seamless transition for new students; Work with the office of Institutional Advancement and Enrollment Management on a coordinated communication effort with new Otterbein students and families; Prepare and monitor annual budget for orientation; Regularly assess the orientation and transition processes. Common Book Serve on the Common Book Committee; Assist in selecting the book; Coordinating the book purchase and distribution process; Marketing and facilitating events for the book as a part of Orientation; Coordinate logistics of the Common Book author visit(s) to campus; Prepare and monitor annual budget for Common Book; Report information as need to Institutional Advancement for the Common Book fund; General Office: Serve as a member of the Student Success and Career Development team;? Communicate and cooperate with team members daily; Support office functions as needed, such as event/program planning and execution, student staff support, and coverage of office in absence of other staff. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Students working with the orientation and FYE programs. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelors Degree required. Master's Degree preferred and at least three years professional experience coordinating large events or transition programs. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to understand and work with all nationalities REASONING ABILITY: Must be able to reason with a number of personalities and backgrounds; must be able to make important decisions quickly; must be able to deal with constant interaction with students and faculty/staff campus-wide . Must be able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
