Academic Mentor Position Purpose Working within the fee-for-service Pathways-Mentoring program, this position supports undergraduate students, providing them with the tools to be independent, self advocating, confident, and successful students and citizens. Essential Duties Summary Provide ongoing individualized support for assigned students (e.g., Mentoring, PASS, pre-PASS, Connections). Identify student stage of development and promote growth by determining suitable developmental tasks. Assist student in establishing realistic and attainable academic and personal goals; Understand and apply various time management, organization, test preparation, goal setting and study skills strategies for assigned students; Communicate proactively (written and verbal) with faculty, staff, and parents as appropriate to support the Mentoring student. Develop individualized plans with other departments to provide collaborative support; Encourage self-advocacy and communication between students and faculty, staff, and parents; Maintain student files including documentation of faculty, staff and parent communication; Participate in Mentoring-specific as well as Pathways and/or college-wide recruitment and retention initiatives.
