Part-Time Instructors for Faculty Pool / Mathematics Campus Title: Part-Time Instructors for Faculty Pool Department: Mathematics FLSA Status: Exempt Job Type: Part-Time Temporary Timeframe: Academic Semesters 2024/2025 Shift: TBD Regular Days Off: Saturday and Sunday Supervision Received: Reports directly to the Chair of the Mathematics Department Supervision Exercised: None Salary: Unit Member per credit $2,253.60 / Per 3 credit class $6,760.80 Non-Unit Member per credit $1,496.73 / Per 3 credit class $4,490.19 General Statement of Duties: The Westfield State University Department of Mathematics seeks applications for part-time instructors to join our Part-time Faculty Pool. We currently have availability for the Fall 2024 semester for in-person courses including Elementary Statistics and Mathematics Applications. Qualified candidates may teach between one and three courses. We also anticipate available courses in the Spring 2025 semester as well. Courses typically have 25 students each. The Department of Mathematics seeks applicants with a passion for active learning and high-impact practices. Teachers in our department are responsible for providing students with quality, active learning experiences. Part-time faculty will have access to a private workspace, access to a campus computer, access to other passionate faculty eager to discuss teaching practices and provide mentorship, and access to all departmental events. Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but not limited to: Essential: Course preparation Preparation for all in-person classes Instruction incorporating active modalities Assessment of student performance Availability to students for office hours Job Requirements: Minimum qualifications: Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics Education, or a related field Excellent written and oral communications skills Willingness to engage with our learning management system (Blackboard) A passion for implementing a variety of teaching and assessment strategies Additional Information: Disability Accommodations Westfield State University is committed to the full inclusion of individuals with disabilities and will ensure the availability of reasonable accommodations.
