Job Summary This position directs marketing for Harvard Summer School, which serves about 9,000 part-time adult students, traditional college students, and high school students each summer, and assists with guiding marketing for Professional & Executive Development. Position Description Under the direction of the Director of Marketing, Harvard Summer School, Professional Development Programs and Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement, this position is responsible for coordinating the marketing for Harvard Summer School, as well as Harvard DCE Professional Development Programs, which creates and delivers courses for professional audiences focused on career advancement. The role also has some responsibility for supporting the marketing of the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement, a year-round program serving approximately 500 retired professionals. All entities are part of the Division of Continuing Education (DCE). This position also works closely with the Marketing Services team, the Marketing Director for Harvard Extension School and several external strategic partners. This is a hands-on role for someone with strong strategic skills who is also capable of developing and executing detailed marketing campaigns. Specific responsibilities: Supports the development of and manages the marketing strategy for Harvard Summer School, Professional Development Programs, and Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement. Conducts market research efforts to gather insights on demand and competitive opportunities. Collaborates on developing a global B2C lead generation strategy and marketing plan that attracts qualified leads from across the globe and converts them to enrolled students. Develops and delivers periodic quantitative and qualitative reports on optimization of the marketing funnel, campaign results, and return on investment for marketing campaigns. Works with the marketing services team to create and execute integrated marketing campaigns and effective go-to-market strategies to acquire and retain qualified students for existing and new offerings. Guides the production of valuable content within the marketing services team for the public websites and social channels Works with the marketing services group and strategic partners to allocate an advertising budget of approximately $3M through the most effective channels as supported by data. Measures and reports back on results and focuses on continuous optimization. Surveys and interacts with prospects and new students to share customer insights. Collaborates with the Director of Marketing P&ED, HSS, HILR to assess viability of new program ideas. Works with academic program directors to clarify the value proposition and points of differentiation for programs and supports the development of effective content to convey those. Educates both internal and external stakeholders and student service teams on new and existing offerings and their benefits. With alumni affairs, develops and implements an approach to engage the community of past students with the goal of encouraging repeat business. Develops and manages a webinar/event strategy for attracting and converting qualified prospective students, including logistics, communications, data capture, and social promotion. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree At least 7 years' experience in Marketing, Program Development Additional Qualifications and Skills The Division seeks a metrics-driven professional who has strong project and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to set and maintain priorities in a very busy department. Must be a self-starter and believe in the mission and academic philosophy of the Division. Experience developing integrated campaigns for digital and direct marketing, market research, SEO/SEM, social media, content marketing, web presence, mobile, channel selection and optimization, and PR are important. A good listener with high energy, drive and both intellectual and emotional intelligence. Strong character; integrity, bias to action, tolerance for process.
