Campus Rec-Fitness Coordinator About the Opportunity JOB SUMMARY: The Coordinator of University Recreation- Fitness is responsible for the continued development and administration of the Northeastern University Recreation Department's Fitness Programs. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of University Recreation - Fitness, this position assists in the coordination of the scheduling and supervision of a comprehensive personal training program serving the needs of a 21,000 student population, which includes the training, development, hiring, and evaluation of the Fitness Consultants and Personal Trainers. Required to work on pre-determined weekends covering events throughout a calendar year, some evenings and early mornings, and during inclement weather. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Developing and implementing a comprehensive fitness program that includes personal training, as well as assist with group fitness and fitness special events. Hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating the Fitness Consultants, and Fitness Administrative Assistant Teams. Assessing effectiveness and satisfaction of fitness programs, services, and facilities. Supporting the creation and execution of new fitness programs and assists with the organization of fitness workshops and continuing education experiences for the staff. Monitoring equipment usage, researches and proposes new equipment purchases, conducts inspections and risk management assessments, and manages the maintenance and repair needs of all fitness equipment. Providing leadership and supervision for assigned University Recreation facilities and personnel. Assisting with the development and implementation of the vision for Globalizing Recreation. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in exercise science, exercise physiology, health and fitness, kinesiology, physical education, or closely related field. Minimum of 1 year of successfully demonstrated involvement in administering/supervising fitness programs or comparable related experience (relative GA experience will be considered). Proficient with Microsoft Office programs and the ability to adapt to learning in-house systems of management/logistics and robust daily operations of recreation facilities/programs. Demonstrated experience within the health and wellness industry and the ability to effectively train Group Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers.
