Responsibilities

About the Role:

Global Internal Communications Specialists are talented writers, storytellers and communications professionals with a passion for streamlining content that connects with employees' hearts and minds. These creative thinkers can brainstorm ideas, collaborate with others, develop strategic concepts and craft meaningful, compelling messages that inspire team members to better engage with the business and one another.

In this role you will:


  • Conceptualize and write compelling content to engage and educate employees, while increasing team members' understanding of business objectives and how their roles contribute to the company's success.

  • You will partner with GMF business partners around the world to create, develop and execute multi-channel communication programs and campaigns.

  • Develop new ideas to support and enhance the department's overall content strategy.

  • Taking topics and making them easy to understand in concise language (primarily digital, sometimes print media)

  • Collaborate with internal customers, identify the communication goal and key messages in order to produce concise copy

  • Assists in Viva Engage calendar management, including scheduling posts and entering post analytics.

  • Assists in the production of live events, such as coordinating pre-event meetings, plus managing guest lists and technical aspects.

  • Collects and analyzes analytics to track performance and identify trends.

  • Assists with content plans and creation for community admins, such as drafting copy and providing communications guidance.

  • Manages relationships with content specialists and business partners, including collaboration on campaigns.

  • Conducts regular audits of communities to track engagement, analytics and compliance to governance.

  • Assists in the preparation of reports and presentations for executive review, summarizing key metrics and insights.

  • Demonstrate teamwork to help promote a creative and collaborative culture.

  • Manage and meet deadlines and priorities for multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Abide by procedures and processes to ensure that communication activities are carried out in a consistent and efficient manner in accordance with company commitments and corporate standards.


Qualifications

What makes you a dream candidate?

  • Highly-developed understanding of corporate communications tools, techniques and best practices.

  • Direct experience with Project Management Software.

  • Good news judgment, attention to detail and strategic project mindset.

  • Knowledge of internal and external communications channels and best practices.

  • Excellent copy and headline writing skills; able to develop engaging and effective copy for diverse audiences around a range of topics, with demonstrated versatility in multiple writing formats and styles.

  • Highly-developed written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of AP Style.

  • Attention to detail and ability to meet multiple deadlines while working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.

  • Makes independent decisions, demonstrates leadership ability and strong relationship building skills.

  • Highly-honed editing ability (both content and copy editing)

  • Must be comfortable working both independently and as a team.

  • Comfortable with leveraging technology and adapting to new tools.

  • Demonstrated experience leveraging networks and building rapport.

  • Thrives in an environment of change and demonstrates strength in adaptability and flexibility.

  • Experience in financial or automotive industries a plus.

  • Experience in Viva Engage or other corporate social media channel a plus.

  • In some instances, content created can be used externally, so experience working on internal communications as well as external content for websites, media, or social media, is a plus.


Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications, Public Affairs, Marketing, Journalism or related discipline required

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in corporate communications, executive communications writing and/or agency experience required

OUR BUSINESS & OUR HISTORY

GM Financial was founded as AmeriCredit in September 1992 and opened its first branch office in Fort Worth, Texas. On October 1, 2010, AmeriCredit Corp. was acquired by General Motors Company and renamed General Motors Financial Company, Inc. (GM Financial). In 2011, GM Financial acquired FinanciaLinx to serve GM dealers and customers throughout Canada.  In November 2012, GM Financial announced the acquisition of Ally Financial Inc.’s international operations. The majority of those acquisitions were finalized in 2013, with the remaining market, a 35 percent equity interest in a joint venture in China, acquired in January 2015.  In October 2017, GM Financial completed the sale of its European financial subsidiaries and branches as part of General Motors’ sale of the Opel and Vauxhall businesses to Peugeot S.A.

 

GM Financial provides auto finance solutions to 14,000 dealers worldwide, with earning assets of $93 billion at September 30, 2018.
