Global Category Manager - Mechanical and Coatings - Military Veterans

The Category Manager will lead efforts to leverage and optimize our supplier base. Central to this role is the ability to create and facilitate cross functional teams focused on driving down cost and lead time across the entire supply chain. This is a highly visible role acting as a link between Engineering, Quality, Operations, and our suppliers to create a sustainable competitive advantage in the marketplace for NOV.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Developing global sourcing strategies to deliver on our business objectives
  • Become the primary point of contact for strategic discussions and business proposals between Rig Technologies and our key Mechanical and Coatings suppliers
  • Work with Engineering and R&D during the development cycle to research potential new products or to qualify more cost-effective alternatives
  • Formulate a roadmap for consolidating our supplier base and mitigate risk within the assigned category
  • Lead Cost and Leadtime Reduction projects on critical commodities with a high business impact
  • Track global pricing trends, supply, and market outlooks for assigned categories and ensure that we have strategies in place to address those conditions
  • Guide and provide visibility to the organization on cost, lead time trends, Supply Chain risks, preferred suppliers, sourcing strategies and supply chain constraints
  • Understand the regulatory environment with respect to specifications, duty, tariffs and ESG requirements and advise the business of implications
  • Prepare RFQ, analyze bids, and negotiate major supplier contracts to conclusion
  • Continually search out new sourcing opportunities to achieve cost reduction, cost avoidance, and cost containment objectives
  • Conduct periodic business reviews with key suppliers to include sharing of business forecasts and KPI ratings
  • Provide support for resolution of payment discrepancies, quality issues, or other disputes between suppliers and Rig sites where required

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations management, engineering, or similar field.
  • MBA or other post graduate training/certifications such as APICS or CPIM preferred.
  • Ability to pass a background and drug screen.
  • 10 years combined experience and education in Procurement or Supply Chain Management in a global, multi-site environment, preferably with experience in dealing with suppliers of Mechanical products and Coatings.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Must be skilled in project management with demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategies with commitment, determination, stamina, and leadership.
