Position Title: Adjunct Instructor 3 - Architecture and Facility Management Location: Big Rapids (Main Campus) Department: 38200 - School of Built Enviroment Advertised Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 Salary commensurate with qualifications pursuant to the FSU and FNTFO/AFT Agreement FLSA: Exempt Temporary/Continuing: Temporary Part-Time/Full-Time: Full-time Union Group: Ferris Nontenure-Track Faculty Organization (FNTFO) (AFT) Term of Position: 9 Month At Will/Just Cause: At Will Summary of Position: The Architecture and Facility Management Department seeks applications for a full-time, one-year temporary faculty position. Responsibilities involve teaching multiple courses in our AAS in Architectural Technology or BS in Architecture and Sustainability programs. In addition to the more common topics associated with the degree programs, experience in architectural design, construction detailing and documents utilizing AutoCAD and Revit, digital architectural presentation utilizing software such as Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, Adobe CreativeCloud (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator) will be considered. The candidate will be evaluated based on specific educational background in the subject matter for which the candidate will be assigned to teach. The anticipated start date of this position is August of 2024 at the earliest and January of 2025 at the latest. This posting is being used for face-to-face instruction. The candidate selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. Position Type: Faculty - Temporary & Continuing Required Education: A Bachelor of Architecture or recognized international architectural professional degree. Required Work Experience: Industry experience Required Licenses and Certifications: Physical Demands: Standing Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: A Master of Architecture or a master's in a related field. Architectural registration is preferred. A minimum of three years of professional work experience and excellent interpersonal and communication skills are preferred. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Plan, deliver and grade all course content and student work for assigned courses. Meet established course outcomes. Conduct architecture classes, studios or other assignments as directed and in a professional manner. Close consultation with program faculty, as well as training via university-provided programs (where appropriate). Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include but are limited to: continuing professional development, participation in curriculum development and university committees, orientation, recruitment, and registration of students, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (ex. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty may be required to teach off campus or in an on-line environment. Demonstrate an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: Attendance at organizational meetings of the program, school or college is highly encouraged. Approved adjuncts who have not received appointment may be asked to provide a minimum of one lecture or lab delivery per academic year as a demonstration of their interest and an opportunity for adjunct faculty development and preparation.
