Position Title: Adjunct Instructor 1 - Automotive Management Location: Big Rapids (Main Campus) Department: 38120 - Automotive Management Advertised Salary: Salary commensurate with qualifications pursuant to the FSU and FNTFO/AFT Agreement FLSA: Exempt Temporary/Continuing: Temporary Part-Time/Full-Time: Part-Time Union Group: Ferris Nontenure-Track Faculty Organization (FNTFO) (AFT) Term of Position: As Needed At Will/Just Cause: At Will Summary of Position: Teach BS degree level coursework in the College of Engineering Technology. Depending on qualifications, subjects taught could include: Automotive Foundations, Automotive Marketing and Distribution, Automotive Accounting, Automotive Culture, Management of Fixed or Variable Operations, Warranty and Customer Relations, or Internet and Social Media Marketing. A focus on student success is expected. Office hours are required with at least one hour for each class taught. Use of current technology is expected. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. This posting is being used for face to face and/or online instruction. However, the candidate selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. The anticipated start date of this position is August 2024 at the earliest and January 2025 at the latest. Position Type: Faculty - Temporary & Continuing Required Education: Master's degree in field or closely related area or a master's degree out of field and 18 graduate hours in field. Faculty Qualification by Tested Experience: The following combinations of education and experience shall be considered qualifying tested experience to teach at the baccalaureate level (3XX, 4XX): - A master's, or higher-level degree out of field with at least one bachelor's degree in field and five years of relevant industry experience directly related to course taught. - A bachelor's degree in field and seven years of relevant industry experience directly related to course taught. - An associate's degree in field and any baccalaureate degree and 7 years of relevant industry experience directly related to course taught. Required Work Experience: Required experience is relevant to degree and experience. See Required Education. Required Licenses and Certifications: Physical Demands: Office Environment Moving Sitting Twisting Lifting Standing Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: - Previous Career and Technical Education teaching experience. - Previous college teaching experience. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Teach Auto Management course(s). Responsible for teaching Auto Management course objectives according to established guidelines. Ability to use Microsoft Office and other programs as needed. Demonstrate an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include but are limited to: Keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for student), and participating in traditional functions which have academic significance (ex. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment.
