Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate and Experienced Durability and Damage Tolerance and Service Life Engineer to join the BGS team located in Long Beach, CA

The C-17 Structural Analysis Engineer 2 will perform Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis to C-17/ Military requirements under the supervision of senior Durability and Damage Tolerance Engineers. They will become familiar with C-17 Aircraft Structural Integrity Program requirements and participate in providing the contractually required reports and briefings. They will perform life analysis work on various airframe components and provide forecasting for inspections and required repairs or modifications. They will become familiar with C-17 Structural Analysis tools, processes, procedures, and documentation requirements.

Position Responsibilities:  

  • Work with other C-17 Durability and Damage Tolerance (D&DT) Analysts to become familiar with C-17 Tools, Processes, and Documentation requirements.
  • Analyze repairs and modifications to the C-17 aircraft utilizing FEM and other computer and hand methods.
  • Become familiar with C-17 Aircraft Structural Integrity program requirements and participate in providing the contractually required reports and briefings.
  • Performs basic structural analysis using well defined analysis tools to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
  • Supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
  • Works under general supervision.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering field.
  • 1+ years’ experience with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.
  • 1+ years’ experience with finite element modeling structural analysis methods and tools.
  • 1+ years’ experience in structural analysis.
  • Experience using excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with leaders and colleagues in an engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education.
  • Experience independently constructing, executing, reviewing, and managing structural finite element models.
  • 1+ years’ experience working with structural sizing, and finite element models/simulations using NASTRAN/PATRAN, ABAQUS, Hypermesh, Optistruct, etc.

Typical Education & Experience

Associate Level (2):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Experienced Level (3):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense (Long Beach, CA).

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Associate Level (2) Summary pay range: $81,600 - $110,400

Experienced Level (3) Summary pay range: $102,000 - $138,000
