Position Title: Adjunct Instructor 1 - Social Work Location: Multiple Locations Department: 33601 - Social Work Advertised Salary: Salary commensurate with qualifications pursuant to the FSU and FNTFO/AFT Agreement FLSA: Exempt Temporary/Continuing: Temporary Part-Time/Full-Time: Part-Time Union Group: Ferris Nontenure-Track Faculty Organization (FNTFO) (AFT) Term of Position: As Needed At Will/Just Cause: Just Cause Summary of Position: Instructor needed for one or more social work courses on a semester-by-semester basis. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. This posting is used for face to face and/or online instruction. For in-person or hybrid teaching positions, candidates must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State Universitys campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. For courses that are taught 100% online, the candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan, Illinois (excluding Chicago), Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Ohio, or Wisconsin after acceptance of employment. Position Type: Faculty - Temporary & Continuing Required Education: Candidate must have a Masters in Social Work (MSW). Required Work Experience: At least two years of post-MSW social work practice. The successful candidate must demonstrate the potential for higher education teaching excellence and the ability to work effectively with both the faculty and students. Required Licenses and Certifications: Applicants must have a Michigan Social Work Licensure upon appointment. Physical Demands: Office Environment Bending Carrying Moving Reaching Sitting Twisting Balancing Lifting Pulling/Pushing Repetitive movement Standing Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Ph.D. or related doctorate preferred. Evidence of two or more years of teaching experience in social work preferred. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Teaching across both the BSW and MSW curriculum. Teaching opportunities will be on the Big Rapids and/or Traverse City campus. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching and the ability to work effectively with both faculty colleagues and a diverse student body. Teach classes in face-to-face, online, remote synchronous delivery, and mixed delivery modes. Post and keep regular office hours. Administer student course evaluations for every course, every semester. Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include but are limited to: keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (ex. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty members may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment. Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members. Support, promote, and develop University student enrollment and retention initiatives. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: Participation in meetings and committees in the department and the College of Arts, Sciences and Education is welcomed, but not required. Skills and Abilities: Skills and abilities pertinent to each class are required. Demonstrated commitment, experience and understanding for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
