Assistant Vice Provost for Faculty Excellence and Teaching Innovation | San Jose State University - Military Veterans

Reporting to the Vice Provost for Faculty Success, the Assistant Vice Provost for Faculty Excellence and Teaching Innovation leads the operations, programming, and future directions of the Center for Faculty Excellence and Teaching Innovation. The AVP develops, facilitates, and assesses CFD programs through an equity lens to provide holistic support for different stages of the faculty lifecyclefrom new faculty orientation through the career milestones of tenure-track and lecturer faculty, all the way through to retirement. The incumbent consults with college leadership, department chairs, University Personnel, Research and Innovation, and the Office of Diversity Equity and Inclusion to cultivate comprehensive support for faculty within a Minority Serving Institution context. In overseeing eCampus, the AVP establishes the support offered to faculty across teaching modalities (in person, online, and hybrid) as they incorporate digital and creative literacies and implement active learning techniques in synchronous and asynchronous courses. The incumbent oversees a team of instructional designers and media production specialists and develops programs and faculty learning communities that address equity gaps, course redesign, universal design for learning, and the needs of adult learners.
