Faculty and Community Engagement Librarian | University of Kansas - Military Veterans

The University of Kansas (KU) Libraries invites applications for a tenure-track librarian to join the faculty. The Faculty & Community Engagement Librarian will support the engagement activities of KU Libraries, collaborating with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. One of the three goals of KU Libraries 2024-2028 Strategic Plan is to "elevate our communities by fostering individual wellbeing, sparking interpersonal connections, and advancing society." The Faculty and Community Engagement Librarian plays a key role in advancing this objective by facilitating relationships to communities within our university and beyond. This position works to connect and harmonize the outreach and engagement activities of Libraries colleagues with university partners, seeking cooperative opportunities and supporting strategic priorities. Additionally, the Faculty and Community Engagement Librarian, in collaboration with others in the Libraries, connects Libraries' programming, activities, and resources with communities in Lawrence, the state of Kansas, and beyond. The successful candidate maintains and supports existing programming while growing and strengthening KU Libraries' community engagement and exhibitions efforts. This position requires flexibility, creativity, and collaboration with a broad range of partners to achieve the Libraries' goals. The Faculty & Community Engagement Librarian is a member of the Research & Learning department at KU Libraries and reports to the Head of the Center for Faculty Initiatives and Engagement. As a member of the Center for Faculty Initiatives and Engagement, this position supports KU faculty and staff through innovative collaboration and engagement in teaching, research, and publishing activities and through expanded engagement with their community partners. This position works closely with colleagues in the libraries' Research Engagement Division and beyond to accomplish shared goals, and works to strategically address the libraries' priorities. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. by the effective date of the appointment. This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty position. Rank considerations are based on professional performance, research, and service experience sufficient to qualify for appointment at the rank of Assistant Librarian or Associate Librarian. Startup funds and annual development funds are provided to tenure-track faculty to support scholarly activities.
