Requisition Number: S_240799 Department: Nebraska Forest Service-0889 Description of Work: The mission of the Nebraska Forest Service is to enrich the lives of all Nebraskans by protecting, restoring, and utilizing Nebraska's tree and forest resources. We offer technical and financial support to clients across Nebraska, with a focus on rural forestry, community forestry, forest fuels reduction, forest health, forest products utilization, and fire protection. As a Heavy Truck/Equipment Lead Mechanic, you will: Perform senior-level maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics and repair of military and fleet vehicles. Schedule work assignments and determine priorities of work for mechanic staff through service schedule preparation and determining demands of workload. Perform service calls on a rotational basis. Provide support to oversee the receipt and checking of new vehicles and prepare work tickets for repairs. Prepare cost and material estimates. Manage equipment, including tools, parts, materials and supplies used in heavy equipment repair. Assist with and ensure proper OSHA regulations are followed. Provide assurance of quality repairs. Minimum Required Qualifications: Associate's degree transportation ag, construction equipment or related field plus five (5) years' heavy truck/diesel equipment repair or related experience. Additional relevant experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis. Knowledge of current state and federal laws for drivers and basic safety standards. Valid driver's license and ability to meet University driver eligibility requirements. ASE certification in HD truck related field or ability to obtain within five months of hire. Class A Commercial Driver's License ( CDL ) or ability to obtain within one year of hire. Preferred Qualifications: The following qualifications are preferred but not required: 6 or more years of experience in heavy truck/diesel equipment repair or related field. Knowledge of current state and federal laws governing CDL drivers and DOT inspections. Posted Salary: $26.00/hr minimum Job Type: Full-Time
