Co-op Engineering - Controls, starting Spring 2025 - Military Veterans

1 - Responsibilities

The Altec Controls Group is responsible for various aspects of control system design. The Altec control system design process involves working with customers to develop an idea and support it through the Altec Product Development Process and into the hands of our customers. Our control systems utilize the Model Based Design methodology via The Mathworks Matlab and Simulink controls development environment. We seek to implement classical closed loop controls, with an eye towards emerging advanced controls strategies.


POTENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate on design teams to develop and test control software for Altec products
  • Review and create control system documentation (electrical schematics, component prints, specification documents, functional requirements, etc)
  • Review electrical component specification and application for compatibility
  • Evaluate and test new control system components
  • Utilize data loggers to troubleshoot equipment and evaluate new designs
  • Become part of Altec's team-oriented design, manufacture, and customer service/support efforts
  • Support Operations, Sales, and Service
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in a related discipline:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Computer Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering with controls concentration
    • Agricultural Engineering with controls concentration
    • Computer Science


*Minimum GPA of 2.75


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:


Candidates must have drive, initiative and a desire to work in a manufacturing setting. Successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, ability to interact with all levels of the organization, computer skills including strong analytical, problem solving and time management skills. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
