Location: Gardner, MA Category: Professional (Staff Member) Posted On: Tue Aug 13 2024 Job Description: General Statement of Duties: MWCC is looking for a dynamic and engaged advisor to join our early college team. We are seeking a dedicated early college advisor who will provide academic advising for dually enrolled students and support a caseload of high school aged students to develop their college readiness skills, monitor student achievement, provide academic coaching and connection to resources for support. This person will also collaborate closely with faculty to identify support and interventions leading to student success. Our early college programs primarily target students who are underrepresented in higher education, students from diverse backgrounds, and those who do not necessarily think that college is an option. In this role, you will provide empathetic and holistic support and advising to high school students who may be facing personal, family, economic and other crises that may impact their academic success. This includes individual case management and assisting students in the development and pursuit of academic and post-secondary goals, while accessing necessary college and community resources. The advisor will provide both academic and career advising, help students navigate college systems and policies, and monitor progress for proactive support. In collaboration with other Early College Advisors and community partners, design and implement college and career readiness workshops. This advisor, primarily located within partnering high schools, is also responsible for regular communications with faculty assigned to the high schools, as well as guidance and administration of partnering high schools. This is a full-time unit position, with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday from 8-4, with occasional evenings or weekends. Position is located at partnering high schools. Bilingual preferred. Responsibilities: Support a caseload of early college students, coordinating activities that support introduction to college processes, transfer processes, career exploration and student success; Work collaboratively with program faculty, serving as a liaison with the assigned high school, and to identify and support areas of difficulty for early college students in support of faculty concerns; The advisor will provide both academic and career advising, help students navigate college systems and policies, and monitor progress for proactive support; In collaboration with other Early College Advisors and community partners, design and implement college and career readiness workshops; Provide regular communications with guidance and administration of partnering high schools; Coordinate recruitment at assigned high schools, including planning and facilitation of information sessions, orientations and parent outreach, as well as regular and consistent communication with high school guidance; Evaluate transcripts, register students for appropriate courses, and assist students with college processes such as add/drop or withdrawal; Maintain professional knowledge in topics related to Early College, such as: diversity, equity and inclusion, transfer options, career exploration, scholarship opportunities, student success, FAFSA, College Board and Common Application; Attend MWCC Advising trainings and stay current on course prerequisites and catalog changes; Utilize TargetX CRM to track student interactions and make referrals to other departments as needed; Develop and deliver regular seminars to Early College students on career exploration/preparation, transfer processes, student success and more; Other duties as assigned. For complete union specifications please click HERE Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or closely related field; Three (3) years experience and/or training involving college admissions, academic advisement, career development, or program/project management; or An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Additional Information: Campus Title: Early College Advisor Salary:$ 64,554.00-$110,034.00 ****Actual Salary determined by education, experience, and any applicable grant limitations per the collective bargaining agreement. Applicants should be aware it is unlikely the salary will be at or near the top of the range.
