The Energy and Propulsion Laboratory in the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit multiple research / postdoctoral associate to work on aerospace propulsion. The successful applicant will drive a fascinating project on the emerging technologies for propulsion systems. Responsibilities will include but not limited to fundamental studies of reactive flow, chemical kinetics, combustion, and detonation, for a wide range of propulsion applications including gas turbine engines for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), sustainable aviation fuels for urban air mobility (UAM), and rocket/hypersonic propulsion systems. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students. Position Requirements PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field Excellent reacting flow multi-physics computation experience in high-performance computing (HPC) environment Experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) codes Ability to present and publish results in peer-reviewed journal articles Preferred Qualifications Experience in code development using C /C/Fortran and parallel computing Knowledge of machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), or data-driven modeling The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children.
