Carpenter/Painter General Maintenance Worker - Military Veterans

Amentum is seeking a Carpenter/Painter General Maintenance Worker to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission in Andros Island, Bahamas. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments. The Carpenter/Painter General Maintenance Worker is responsible for the installation, repair, maintenance and replacement of woodwork in a variety of building types. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform all carpentry and masonry work in accordance with the construction industry and company standards.
  • Provide quality workmanship on projects, including installing woodwork, installing doors, drywall, building walls, painting, installing windows and flooring.
  • Install cabinets, stairs and other fixtures as required.
  • Mix cement and mortar.
  • Restore old and worn masonry to repair sidewalks, curbs and concrete pads.
  • Install wooden structures such as roofing rafters, flooring joist and wall studding as in structure framing.
  • Install roofing material such as asphalt shingles as required in roofing repair work.
  • Operate a concrete batch plant, install concrete forms, mix and pour concrete, from a concrete mixing truck or by hand mixing.
  • Adhere to safety rules and regulations when performing job duties.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements:
  • 3 years experience as a Carpenter with Painting and Masonry skills.
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship and 4 years experience as a Journeyman level carpenter.
  • Must have a minimum of a High School Diploma.
  • Must have experience mixing cement and mortar.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability of speaking clearly.
  • Must have experience restoring old and worn masonry.
  • Requires experience installing ceramic tile and laminate flooring.
  • Must have experience and proficiency with hand tools and other materials used in construction work.
  • Must be willing/able to learn new techniques using various types of equipment.
  • Ability and willingness for continuous learning.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.
  • A valid U.S. Passport is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Qualified Journeyman carpenter, preferred.
  • Drywall installation /repair skills, preferred.
  • Experienced painter, preferred.
  • Experience working within an architectural or woodworking industry preferred.
  • Active Secret government clearance, preferred.
