Requisition Number: F_240115 Department: Management-1027 Description of Work: Position Summary The Department of Management in the College of Business at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln invites applications for a non-tenure leading faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice, with an expected start date of January 2025. The faculty member will be an integral part of the Department's and College's long-term commitment to teaching excellence and will be expected to teach a variety of courses in management with a particular emphasis in strategic management and entrepreneurship. Teaching responsibilities will be at the undergraduate and graduate levels, both online and in-person. The faculty member serving in this role will also support the activities of the Center for Entrepreneurship including attending all co-curricular activities, mentoring student entrepreneurs, connecting with community entrepreneurs, and advising entrepreneurship student organizations. Professors of Practice are teaching specialists and are hired on multi-year contracts that are renewable subject to performance. Responsibilities will include 80% teaching (equivalent to 4 three-credit-hour courses each Fall and Spring semester) and 20% service. For candidates with a doctorate, responsibilities can include a 10% research apportionment (which can come out of teaching or service). A reduced teaching apportionment may also be possible with expanded service commitments. This will be an academic year (nine-month) appointment. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and will be competitive with Big Ten Universities. About the Department of Management The Department of Management has 25 faculty members and provides a collegial environment for research and teaching. Our faculty members regularly publish in top-tier management journals and are awarded for their research and teaching accomplishments. The Center for Entrepreneurship, International Business program, and the Clifton Strengths Institute are affiliated with the Department of Management and administered by Management faculty.
