General Job Description
Dogwood Industries is seeking a CDL Driver & Receiving Handler to join our growing team. This position requires the candidate to have their Class A CDL with a two or more years of experience and a clean driving record. A successful candidate needs to be a team player as this position requires the employee to jump in with the Receiving Team when they are not driving.


   


Duties & Responsibilities


 


Approximately 70% Driving




  • Drive haul runs up to or exceeding one-hour commute (one way)

  • You must be willing to communicate and cooperate with customers, respond to their questions, and safely operate delivery vehicle in compliance with company and DOT Guidelines, Rules and Regulations

  • Perform regular safety inspections of equipment in keeping with company SOPs and OSHA standards

  • Communicate professionally with warehouses, including notifying loaders by phone if you will be late for a scheduled drop-off or pickup

  • Follow a schedule of weekly recurring local runs between customers

  • Count product during loading and / or unloading

  • Other duties as assigned




Approximately 30% Receiving Handler



  • The expectation is when the employee is not driving, they will join the receiving team to assist with their daily tasks. This may include but is not limited to:

  • Document control, tracking and reporting

  • Manages change when unforeseen conditions require adjustments to work plan and schedule

  • Loading and unloading materials

  • Other duties as assigned



Requirements



  • Current Class A CDL, with a clean driving record for the last 3 years

  • 2+ years of experience as a CDL driver

  • Ability to use navigation tools such as GPS, smartphone apps and/or web-based maps

  • Excellent communication

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong verbal and writing skills in English

  • Forklift experience is a plus



Physical Requirements/Work Environment
This position requires moderate physical activity in a factory environment.  To perform the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body. The employee must be able to spend time standing on a factory floor and balance for extended periods of time; be able to sit at in a vehicle to perform the driving tasks; be able to move over and around obstacles and climb stairs; be able to lift up to 70 pounds of weight or pull and push material to receive and inspect the same.  The employee will be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors.


 


 Hourly Rate


$25.00 – $35.00 hourly, DOE.
