General Utility- Truck Loader - Military Veterans

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the General Utility - Truck Loader is directly responsible for the inspection and cleaning of rail equipment, the clean-up around conveyor belts and machinery, and performing various tasks throughout the plant. Observes, monitors and reports any conditions that could lead to product non-conformity or other irregularity. Completes equipment pre-shift report on any mobile machinery operated. The General Utility Person has the organizational freedom and authority, as defined by the Plant Production Supervisor to participate in the implementation of safety programs to ensure the safety of employees. The General Utility Person is specifically given the responsibility and authority to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product or process, or to the quality system, and to initiate, recommend or provide solutions.

Responsibilities & Duties:

* Operate and perform pre-shift inspection of mobile equipment reporting any defects, when assigned

* Participate in safety meetings and training sessions

* Inspect work areas for safety hazards before beginning work activity

* Perform general plant clean-up

* Occasionally lifts and carries equipment and materials in excess of 100 pounds

* Run sweeper, water truck and track mobile

* Load dust trucks and lime trucks

* Gathers samples and reports non-conformities related to product or process

Job Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED required
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to work shift work
  • Required to achieve a passing score on a Entry-level Basic Skills test in order to be considered for employment
  • If offered a position, all candidates are required to complete and pass a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen. We are a drug and alcohol free facility.

Carmeuse offers competitive wage with an opportunity for overtime. Medical, dental and vision benefits are also provided through the Teamsters union. Position consists of days or nights.
